Deep in the underground network of car parks and connecting tunnels of BMW Welt (BMW World) in Munich, a meeting is taking place. Impeccably dressed ladies and gentlemen are going through last minute details of their latest mission. Behind them, half lit by harsh, stark lighting are the tools of their trade to gain access and getaways – BMW motorcycles and automobiles.
But this is not a clandestine meeting of agents, spies, good guys and villains. Photographic equipment consisting of lighting rigs and light-reflecting materials being moved by scene-setting personnel tell us this is a photographic shoot, a fashion shoot that will depict the glamour, coolness and mystery associated with being a hero or leading lady played out in a movie.
One of the mechanical stars of this photo-shoot is the best-selling and highly acclaimed BMW Motorrad superbike, the S 1000 RR. BMW Motorrad commissioned a one-off RR show bike, specially painted by custom builder Håkan Lindberg. Another star of this shoot – and a certain well known movie blockbuster – also comes from the BMW Group stable but has four wheels. It goes without saying that a performance car is an important requisite of any secret agent’s arsenal and lifestyle. The latest BMW M3 supercar grabs the glory because its cutting-edge technology and a host of race-inspired chassis components make it the logical choice for any secret agent.
Regardless of what you ride or drive, it’s how you look at the destination point that matters. Dressing to thrill is important. The reason for this is status and stature and, to quote a line from legendary rock band ZZ Top’s song Sharp Dressed Man, “'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.” It has been said “a suit make a man” and while this may be true, a quality BMW Motorrad motorcycle suit – leather or textile – will afford better protection while on a motorcycle.
